Visually different from most of its contemporaries, and totally different from every other Volvo cars. The Volvo PV36, perhaps better known as the Carioca, is an exciting chapter in the Volvo cars history. It is also quite famous in automotive history if you consider how few examples were actually built and by such a small manufacturer like Volvo Car Corporation.
In 2010 the Volvo PV36 celebrates its 75th anniversary – and let us right from the beginning state: It is not a copy of the Chrysler Airflow which it has been accused of.
The history of these cars is yet another version of the eternal question about whichever was first, the chicken or the egg. What is the truth? Yes, Chrysler was first to put its Airflow on the market in 1934, but that does not automatically mean that Volvo copied its styling. That could not have worked from a timing point of view since the Volvo made its debut less than a year later. Such short leadtimes do not exist even today, and definitely not 75 years ago.

The stylists at SEAT Design have taken the highly functional concept of the SEAT Ibiza ST and clad it in the Spanish brand’s unique design language. Despite the estate layout and generous load capacity, it retains the youthful, sporty character of the Ibiza range. The roofline stretches rearwards, the rear overhang is integrated perfectly into the overall design and the tight span of its flanks lends tautness to its proportions. The front end bears the hallmark SEAT “arrow design”; with the rear end receiving a new look courtesy of the split rear light clusters.

Tesla Motors has made announcement about the production of the right-hand-drive version of its iconic Tesla Roadster sports car, the only highway-capable electric car for sale worldwide.
Prospective customers and media may test-drive right-hand-drive cars available at Tesla’s showroom, 49-51 Cheval Place in London’s Knightsbridge district (SW7 1EW). The 2010 Tesla Roadster UK-Version includes a suite of unique noise-reduction materials, an upgraded sound system and other enhancements that make it ideal for daily commuting or weekend drives.
